India Practical Missions is the result of the call of God upon Mathews Chacko in February, 1978 to return to his native India to share the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in practical ways. In obediance to this call, Mathews and Rachel set in motion their family's move to India to build practical ministries in their community. Leaving their jobs, home, and friends in the USA, Mathews and Rachel moved to the newly-purchased land in the state of Kerala, India.
There they constructed a small two-room house with a single cable supplying electricity borrowed from a neighbor.
From these humble beginnings, God has been faithful to provide the resources necessary to implement His call. Over the years, the Bethany Academy campus has been built building-by-building, and project-by-project through the generous donations of our friends and supporters. Today the campus provides classrooms, laboratories, study spaces to over 1400 students. Bethany's campus also includes a beautiful chapel, athletic facilities including a covered multi-purpose athletic center, and an indoor swimming pool. Additionally the campus includes dormitory spaces for over 150 boarding students and a dining hall. Bethany Academy provides certified education from Pre-K through Junior College. Bethany's graduates are attending top universities and achieving high-level success in a multitude of disciplines. Seeking to serve special needs children in the community, Bethany Academy committed itself to this need and today is providing leading-edge Montessori instruction to these special-needs children.
